The European palate seems more traditionally oriented to finely structured wines that speak largely of the growing area and have been made over centuries in a style matching local cuisine.
Wine Club India The New World palate has grown accustomed to more fruit-driven wines on a bigger (more robust) style with higher alcohols, greater concentration and softer tannins that are the product of newer trends in the vineyard and winery. Taste preferences appear more aligned with the wine itself rather than specific varietal character, nuances from the vineyard or food compatibility.

The fall and harvest was also cool and wet, bringing on some mold and rot in many vineyards. Rather than the typical California vintage, we were faced with similar climatic conditions experienced by Old World vintners during several vintages in any given decade.
