Los Altos is finally getting its first winery tasting room. Los Gatos’ Byington Vineyard & Winery is pulling the wraps off its Silicon Valley satellite tasting room with a grand opening celebration from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. this weekend, June 17-18.
Cabernet Shiraz Byington winery owner and Los Altos resident Benny Madsen’s hopes this becomes more than a tasting bar. “We’re hoping people use the place as alternative to a coffee shop in the afternoon,” he says. “People can have casual meetings, discuss some business or have a casual drink.” The grand opening party will feature half-price tastings (five pours for $6 instead of $12), and the band Vintage Noise will perform on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Look for the tasting menu to offer the Los Gatos winery’s biggest hits, including the estate-grown pinot noir.
